Catherine, mother of François

François’s Cerebral Palsy necessitates an adapted organisation (adapted premises, transportation, vacation, leisure time…) and has a real psychological impact on our family dynamics.

We must maintain a balance to give time and affection to all our children.
François’s handicap requires from us tremendous energy. It is however extremely enriching human wise for our family.

Elias

Elias was born very premature, at 6 months and 10 days. In 2005, he underwent surgery on leg muscles, and can now walk.

My brain suffered an injury in the part of the brain associated with movement. I could not get up and walked on all fours until my legs got operated on. Now, I walk with braces and use a stroller when I am tired.
I go to a normal school, I’m in 2nd grade and am very good at math. Later, I would like to be a cartoonist.
I live quite well with my handicap and others do too. There is nothing which my handicap prevents me from doing; I do what I want: play football at the Sessad (Special education and home care department), rugby, go skiing… I like my life as it is.
